PRINCIPAL kingmakers and elders of Kokrobite of the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council in Accra have maintained that Nii Ofei III is the legitimate chief of Kokrobite.
Their statement was in reaction to the claim by some individuals led by the Head of Nii Arde Family of Kokrobite, Daniel Nii Arde Tagoe that Nii Ofei III was not the Mantse (Chief) of Kokrobite.
Addressing journalists over the weekend in Accra to set the records straight, Principal Kingmaker of Kokrobite, Nii Arde Ansah II described the allegation against Nii Ofei III as “unacceptable, malicious, libelous, and an insult to the intelligence of the principal kingmakers and elders of Kokrobite.”
“For the records, we wish to say that, Nii Ofei III who is the son of the late Kokrobite Chief, Nii Ofei II was properly elected, nominated, and subsequently enstooled as the Kokrobite Mantse.
“…it is common knowledge in the Ga custom and practices that, a chief should be enstooled by the principal kingmaker. The unchallenged Principal Kingmaker Ngleshie Kokrobite is me (Nii Arde Ansah II), before whom Nii Ofei III swore the traditional Oath of Allegiance at Kokrobite on July 19, 2010,” the kingmaker explained.
Nii Ofei III was subsequently inducted into Ngleshie Alata Traditional Council as a substantive Kokrobite chief on February 2, 2016 by the Paramount Chief of James Town, Obrempong Nii Ababio V.
