New Juaben Traditional Council has clashed with the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) for claiming that the Nsukwao River which turned red last Saturday was a sign of anger by God over attempts by the traditional council and faceless operatives of the National Security to stop a mega crusade dubbed: “Koforidua for Christ,” currently ongoing in Koforidua, Eastern Region.
The turnout for the crusade has been low due to how GPCC, organisers of the crusade, went through before given the green light at a late hour.
On Saturday, the Koforidua Nsukwao river turned red for about 3 hours, creating panic among residents.
President of Worldwide Miracle Outreach and some pastors of GPCC, Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, visited the scene to pray for God to turn miracle into a good omen for the prosperity of the municipality.
Speaking to newsmen, Founder of House of Prayer Church, a member of local GPCC, Bishop Yaw Adu, said the incident was a sign of God’s wrath.
However, prayer has been said for it to be turned into blessings for people of new Juaben.
But in a furious reaction, the Krontihene of New Juaben, Barfuor Tutu Boateng Nyantakyi, described the claim by the pastors as ‘deceptive and baseless.’
According to him, the incident had nothing to do with God’s miracle but rather a criminal offence which the traditional council wants the police to arrest the suspect(s).
Meanwhile, the Ghana Water Company Limited has assured the public that there was no cause for alarm over the safety of their water supply.
