Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East constituency of the Central Region, Mrs. Queenstar Maame Pokua Sawyerr, has added her voice to the possible passage of the Special Prosecutor Bill by Parliament.

She indicated that retained MPs of the NDC were not scared of the Special Prosecutor.

Speaking in an interview with Today after her meeting with her constituents, she said the major issue was the passage of the Special Prosecutor’s Bill.

“I don’t think we have a problem with the Special Prosecutor, because we know we have done our part. Government comes, government goes, and when you come you just have to make sure the right things are done,” she noted.

She opined the passage of the bill would not be used to torment former ministers but will be used as a tool to foster unity and rule of law.

“That doesn’t mean you should torment your opponents. I don’t believe any member of the NDC is afraid. No NDC minister is afraid, we have done our bit. We are fine. I know myself, and I know my colleagues have done well so they can go ahead with that bill.”

Commenting on the seeming division in the NDC, Maame Pokua Sawyerr called on the party leadership to allow for diverse views on matters that affect the party, which she said will foster in the party.

According to her, vilifying persons who express their views will only deepen the cracks in the party, saying “everybody has the right to speak and make his or her voice heard. What we all need is unity.”
