Everest Cricket Club won the first of 3 matches against President’s select XI in the Ghana Cricket Associations Stay Fit Series game at the Achimota Cricket Oval on Saturday, October 21, 2017.
The 30 over format game saw the president’s select XI winning the toss and electing to bat first. They scored 128-8 in the first innings with Joseph Kwame Theodore scoring 30-33 and Godfred Bakiweyem also scoring 28-25.
The bowling figures had Ramesh take 2-19, Girish taking 2-21, Bharani also grabbing 2-28 and Halim also taking 2-32.
In the second innings, Everest scored 129-8 in 25 and won the match by 2 wickets. Bharani Kumar scored 41-46, Ramesh scored 20-17 and David Ankrah also scored 20-29.
Michael Aboagye took 3-25, while Isaac Aboagye took 3-30. Bless also took 2-7.
Bharani Kumar was adjudged man of the match and was presented with a GH¢100.00 cash prize.
The combined national sides, (Seniors & U-19) called “President’s select XI” will play 2 more matches with Everest on Saturday, October 28 and the final on November 4, 2017, with the winner of the best 3, going away with a trophy and GH₵1000.00 cash prize which is sponsored by the GCA and Natures Gift Rice respectively.
Other sponsors, who are helping to make the series a success include Golden Dragon Casino, Osu, and ICK International Services Ltd.
The Stay Fit Series, as the name suggests, is to help sharpen the skills of the national players as they are in a lean season, awaiting the end of the year T20.
Everest who are currently participating in the 2017 Diwali Cup will play MMG in their last single round robin game on October 29, before the first two goes into the final on October 5.
