Ghana’s Thomas Partey and Christian Atsu have been shortlisted in the provisional 30 man list for the 2017 African Player of the year Award released by CAF yesterday.
The duo have been in impressive form for both club and country and will be contesting the prestigious award with former winner, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang of Dortmund and Gabon, Nigerian and Chelsea winger Victor Moses and Eric Bailly of Manchester United and Ivory Coast.
By banging his first career hat-trick for Ghana during their world cup qualifier win over Congo in Brazzaville, Thomas Partey has proved to be a pivotal for Coach Kwasi Appiah.
His Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone also hailed the Ghanaian’s performance against Qarabag in their Champions League encounter on Tuesday in Spain.
Christian Atsu has also been phenomenal for Newcastle in the 0217 season by aiding them to qualify to play in the English Premier League. He was very instrumental when the Black Stars placed fourth in 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
The winner will be decided by votes from the Head Coaches/Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF, members of the CAF Technical and Development Committee and a panel of media experts in the Awards Gala to be held on Thursday, 4 January 2018 in Accra, Ghana.
