Ethics Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has indefinitely suspended referee Prince Amoah for his role in denying Accra Hearts of Oak a penalty in their week 26 Ghana Premier League clash with Aduana Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The decision by the Ethics Committee is in respect of the deliberate attempt by referee Amoah to overlook a reckless tackle on a Hearts of Oak player, Thomas Abbey in the 87th minute of the match. The match which had the potential of influencing the position of Aduana Stars was horrendously officiated by referee Amoah.
Referee Amoah’s defence to most of the decisions he made on the match day according to the Ethics Committee were frivolous and unjustifiable thereby warranting an indefinite suspension which was set to begin on October 27, 2017.
Referee Amoah’s suspension is the second in recent times of the number of referees suspended from officiating in the Ghana Premier League indefinitely. In March 2017, referee Justice Adu-Poku suffered a similar fate when video review of the match between WAFA and Tema Youth revealed that he awarded very bad penalty against Tema Youth.
