Parliament of Ghana has approved Mr. Kennedy Nyarko Osei for the position of deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture.
Mr Osei, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim Swedru Constituency in the Eastern Region, replaces Mr William Agyapong Quaitoo, who resigned two months ago after allegedly making ethnocentric comments.
Mr Nyarko Osei’s approval was by consensus after Parliament’s Appointments Committee presented its report to the House on Friday, 3, 2017.
Members from both sides of the House at the plenary who debated the report of the committee were of the view that the Akim Swedru lawmaker had the qualities required of a deputy minister.
Some MPs after the approval urged the nominee to be circumspect in his utterances, taking a cue from the calamity that befell Mr Quaitoo, his predecessor.
