District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie West in the Ashanti Regional, William Asare Bediako, has accused the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Joseph Albert Quarm, of scheming to oust him from office.
According to the DCE, the MP has been making unfounded allegations against him which sought to run him down in the eyes of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and other members of the public.
Mr William Asare Bediako alleged that the lawmaker in many attempts has incited the presidency against him by accusing him of engaging in illegal mining activities in the area despite a ban.
According to Mr Asare Bediako, he has never engaged in illegal mining as being alleged by Joseph Albert Quarm.
The DCE explained that as chairman of the District Security Committee (DISC) he has led many operations that had led to the arrest of several illegal miners in the district.
“I don’t know the basis of those allegations against me. ….I dare anyone including Hon Albert Quarm to substantiate those allegations against me,” the DCE fumed.
Mr Asare Bediako therefore, urged the public to treat allegations made against him by the lawmaker in the area with the contempt it deserves.
Joseph Albert Quarm last month accused the District Chief Executive (DCE) for area, William Asare Bediako, of supervising over illegal mining activities in the district.
According to the anti-illegal mining crusader, politicians across the divide in the area were still engaging in illegal mining despite a ban on these activities by the government.
“It is true and I can confirm that some people are still doing it in places like Kaniago, Totomkrom, Abore and many areas,” Joseph Albert Quarm revealed.
The DCE however, denied the claims insisting it was a diabolic move by the MP and his cohorts to have him fired.
