Leading technology giant, Samsung, has unveiled the new Galaxy Note 8 unto the market.

The Note 8 is a 6.3-inch device and has an “infinity display” that wraps around the edges of the phone; it also has Samsung’s Bixby voice assistant.

The Note 8 comes with the S-pen stylus, which can be used even when the phone’s screen is off, such as to take notes or make a shopping list.

The release comes one year after the Galaxy Note 7 was blamed for dozens of fire-released incidents. After a botched recall, Samsung ultimately pulled the ill-fated phone from the market and created new safety guidelines.

The Note 8 phone comes in three colours (gold, black and orchid grey) and runs Android 7, the current version of Google’s operating system but designed in tweaks and extra features.

Speaking to the media after the live section Ghana, Marketing Manager at Samsung Electronics West Africa, Tracy Kyei, commended customers and the media for staying with the Samsung brand.

According to her, Samsung had a tough year after the blow out of the famous Galaxy Note 7 and was thankful for the support showed by customers.

“I would like to thank everybody, our customers, the media for rallying behind us during tough times. The support showed has given us the assurance that you still believe in us,” she said.

She indicated that the safety of customers was the most important thing for the Samsung brand “that was the reason why all the phones were recalled when the incident happened.”

She explained that after the incident, the company launched an 8 point security check measures to avoid recurrence of such issue in the near future.

“We already have measure for security check but after the unfortunate incident, we have strengthen it by introducing an 8 point security check measures to ensure that there is no further future mess up,” she noted.

Miss Kyei further stated that the Note 8 (which is a lot bigger than the 5.7-inch Note 7) also features the same curved screen and resolution as the S8 but has a different, more squarish look.

“It does have some unique software features too, including App Pair which allows you create a custom pair of apps and then launch them simultaneously.’
