Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, says government by the end of the year will release the full list of presidential staffers at the seat of government to Parliament.
The minority are demanding that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo makes available to the House a full list of presidential staffers immediately as required by law.
According to them, it has taken too much time for the president to submit the list to Parliament.
Section 11 of the Presidential Office Act, 1993 (Act 463), requires that the President submits to parliament a report on the staffing at the Office of the President.
Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu demanded that government respects the laws of the country and submit the list to the House.
Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ Majority Leader, Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, however, assured that the list will be available to the minority as demanded but was unable to give the exact date for the submission.
“The law requires that the president at the end of the year must submit the list of staffers he is working with. The year has not ended yet so I don’t know why the minority are in a haste to receive it. I can assure that we will submit it to parliament on time,” he told host Kwasi Aboagye.
Hon Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu also noted that “The minority whiles in government refused to produce the list of presidential staffers when we demanded for it. We will not follow their footsteps, we will produce the list.”
