McVitie’s to reward consumers in 125th Anniversary Promo

Pladis, the global biscuit, chocolate and confectionery company, which owns the iconic brands, Godiva, McVitie’s and Ulker, has launched a national consumer promotion in Ghana to celebrate 125th year anniversary of its much-loved McVitie’s Digestive biscuits which are enjoyed all over the world.

The promotion, which commenced on 20th November, 2017, will run for six weeks until 31st December, 2017.

At the end of the promotional period, a total of three consumers will be selected to win cash prizes – the first will win the grand prize of GH¢10,000, second will take home GH¢5,000, while the third will win GH¢2,000.

In addition, tens of thousands of consumers will win airtime of various denominations.

Launching the programme, Managing Director (MD) for sub-Saharan Africa, Mr Ali Jaber, said from the time McVitie’s entered Ghana 40 years ago, its  range of biscuits and the original McVitie’s Digestive in particular, have enjoyed a lot of love and support from Ghanaian consumers.

“We therefore, decided to celebrate our significant 125th year anniversary milestone by running a promotion to reward our consumers who have made McVitie’s Digestive and the McVitie’s brand a great success story in the region,” he said.

Mr Jaber added that “the McVitie’s Digestive 125th Anniversary promotion is the first ever from the brand, adding that the campaign is driven by pladis’s commitment to give happiness to the world with every bite through their range of high quality and delicious tasting biscuits and confectionery products.”

For her part, Marketing Director for Pladis West Africa, Mrs Toyin Nnodi, said the promo is a way of thanking Ghanaians, thus rewarding about 18,000 people for being part of the McVitie’s success story in Ghana.

Explaining the selection process, Mrs Toyin said to ensure the promotion is transparent and fair, every mobile number that enters into the promotion will have an equal chance of winning any of the airtime or cash prizes at anytime throughout the duration of the promo, irrespective of when the number is entered into the promo.

She hinted the fact that her outfit had plans of opening a bakery here in Ghana, and assured the media they will be let in as and when these plans take root.

She urged Ghanaians to buy as many as they can of the anniversary special promotion 40g packs scratch and send their codes to 1393 to stand a chance of winning in the draw.

Earlier this month, the company launched two new products – McVitie’s Digestive Choc Chip and McVitie’s Hobnobs Choc Chip which are the original Digestive and Hobnobs biscuits with chocolate chips embedded in them in the Ghanaian market, and also expanding its portfolio of delicious tasting McVitie’s biscuits, currently being produced in Nigeria.
