The second edition of the People’s Celebrity Awards will come off December 30, 2017 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
At a press briefing on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Accra to announce the new date, Spyder Lee Entertainment, organisers of the event, who also used the occasion to unveil the nominees for this year’s awards, was grateful to the media and the industry players.
The period under review for the awards is from August 2016 to August 2017.
People’s Celebrity Awards seeks to award individuals whose contributions have seen tremendous growth towards the showbiz industry in Ghana.
Speaking at the event, a member of the board of directors for the People’s Celebrity Awards, Eyram Bashan, said: “the scheme over the years has celebrated and recognised Ghanaian personalities whose daily contributions have helped the growth of the nation’s entertainment industry.
She noted that the awards scheme has achieved its purpose of creating an excellent avenue for investment in the creative arts industry.
She indicated that as the only award scheme which brings all aspects of entertainment together, she said this year’s event will be an improvement upon that of last year.
She revealed that a new category, “Religious Personality of the Year,” has been added to this year’s event, bringing the total categories to twenty (20).
The new category, she said, will offer Ghanaians the opportunity to nominate and vote for the most influential person who has made a substantial and significant impact in the lives of others.
The other nineteen (19) categories are Favourite Male Musician, Favourite Female Musician, Favourite Actor, Favourite Actress, Favourite Movie, Favourite Male Radio Presenter, Favourite Female Radio Presenter, Favourite Male TV Presenter and Favourite Female TV Presenter.
The rest are Favourite Song, Favourite Male Sports Personality, Favourite Female Sports Personality, Favourite Journalist, People’s Celebrity Awards – Favourite Comedian, The Ultimate Lifetime Achievement Award (Individual), Lifetime Achievement Award (Organisation), Favourite Social Media Personality and Favourite Music Video Award.
To vote for your favourite nominee, she said, “just dial *712# on all mobile networks for free”.
All categories, except the Lifetime Achievement Awards (Individual & Organisation) are opened for public voting.
