GCB engages customers on takeover of UT and Capital banks

GCB Bank yesterday engaged scores of its corporate customers on the management of UT and Capital Banks.

The bank gave assurance to its customers that it will bring down lending rates to support private businesses in the country.

The meeting, which was held in Accra yesterday, was the first of its kind, and was aimed at briefing GCB customers on the assumption of the two banks.

Addressing the gathering, Managing Director of GCB, Mr. Anselm Ray Sowah, was grateful to the warm reception offered to his outfit by the corporate customers of the two banks—UT and Capital banks.

He stated that the decision by GBB to assume the management of the two banks was taken to grow “our brand and create the environment for our customers businesses to thrive.”

“For the benefit of the corporate customers of the ex-UT and Capital Banks, GCB will be reviewing lending rates downwards to the level of GCB’s existing corporate clients,” Mr. Sowah revealed.

He further assured the customers that GCB has the right balance sheet to support big transactions and large ticket deals that its customers will appreciate.

This, according to Mr. Sowah, attested to the fact that GCB has the capacity to offer customers a one-stop solution to their banking needs, and called on corporate customers not deal with different banks.

Mr. Sowah pointed out that GCB was established over six decades ago primarily to handle local and indigenous Ghanaian businesses.

He said that the bank has successfully managed retail, SME and corporate institutions including multi-national interests through the experience gained over the years.

He stressed that the passion to grow local business was ingrained in the procedures and practices of GCB.

Additionally, Mr. Sowah indicated that in nurturing these businesses, the key value was to building an effective relationship with the customers of the bank.

He was of the view that there were several known Ghanaian brands nurtured by GCB’s strong relationships, and called on the customers to support the back to actualise its target.

“It is my ambition to bring back passion into the way in which GCB manages entrepreneur space in the country. We have embarked on a campaign to win, nurture and support and grow Ghanaian businesses to enhance the national economy,” he assured.
