L’aine Foundation has organised a start-up workshop to encourage entrepreneurism and offer support to start-up businesses.

The workshop, which was on the theme: “Building Sustainable Businesses for a Thriving Economy,” was held in Accra over the weekend at the L’aine Office Complex Event Centre.

It brought together businessmen and women across the country.

Topics discussed included: how to grow and sustain businesses, how to increase profitability, managing the business books, and knowing how to attract the best talents for the business.

Chief Executive Officer of Investment Eye Capital, Nana Osae Addo-Dankwa, mentioned three elements which were essential to business management.

They were financial, environmental and social risks and obligations and opportunities with regard to taxes and regulations that govern businesses in the country.

He, therefore, called on young adults striving to become great entrepreneurs to take critical look at them

He reminded young entrepreneurs not to forget their corporate social responsibilities (CSR).

“It is ideal to start small, have an effective plan to enable your business grow, take calculated risks and keep everything simple,” he added.

For his part, HR consultant at L’aine Services, David Mills, said that it was important for business owners “to know who to hire and who not to hire as well as what to hire in order to drive the goal of the business.”

He was of the view that when employees share in the values and goals of a business, it makes it easier for those goals to be achieved.

Mr Mills called on business owners to identify the strengths and weaknesses of those they work with, develop and coach those who need help in order to achieve the required results.
