A gas tanker yesterday morning crashed on the Accra-Tema Motorway stretch with gas leaking onto the street, causing fear and panic among drivers and other road users.
However, the quick response of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), an eyewitness said, managed to prevent any possible disaster that could have happened after the tanker overturned.
The situation reportedly caused chaos on the motorway resulting in a severe traffic jam on the Accra-Tema stretch of the motorway.
Deputy Public Relations Officer of GNFS, Prince Billy Anaglate, stated that the situation was immediately brought under control after they received a distress call.
He added that personnel from the GNFS managed to seal the valve of the gas tanker which prevented the gas which was leaking from causing any disaster.
Meanwhile, Mr Anaglate said, the tanker had since been transported to the Tanker Yard in Tema.
