Chief of Oduntia in the Ga West Municipal District of the Greater Accra Region, Nii Kwei Mensah IV, has called on the central government to come to their aid by reconstructing the Oduntia to Amasaman road.
In an exclusive interview with Today during the celebration of Homowo in Oduntia last Monday, Nii Kwei Mensah IV expressed worry about the state of roads in the community.
According to Nii Oduntia, many lives have been lost as a result of the deplorable and risky nature of the roads in Oduntia and its surrounding communities.
He was also equally concerned about the difficulties drivers who ply on that road go through.
To this end, he pleaded with the government to construct more roads and also refurbish the damaged ones in Oduntia and its adjoining communities.
Nii Kwei Mensah IV also appealed to the government to complete an abandoned school block owned by the Presbyterian Church in the area.
This, he said, has been a major problem headache for the community, and thus urged governments to help complete it to enable more residents have access to education.
Again, he said the lack of public toilet in the community was also a problem bedevilling Oduntia.
He noted that several calls on authorities to construct a public toilet facility in the town have yielded no positive result.
“I have tried several times to call on the authorities to help construct a public toilet but all to no avail. We have lands available for such a project and we hope the government will come to our aid,” he pleaded.
For her part, the Queenmother of Oduntia, Naa Ayeley Osongo III, made a passionate appeal to the government to help Oduntia have a hospital.
“The only hospital is at Adjen Kotoku so when someone falls sick here [Oduntia], the person has to travel all the way to Adjen Kotoku to seek medical care and this is very disquieting,” she revealed.
