Following the provision of two additional ferries at Yeji in the Pru District of the Brong Ahafo Region, commuters and drivers can now breadth a sigh of relief.
Drivers and commuters who use Yapei and Buipe bridges in the past weeks have had a tough time as they had to do with long winding alternative routes due to the closure of the two bridges for repair works.
The ministry of roads and highways in collaboration with the Volta Lake Transport Company brought two ferries to ferry cars and commuters.
The old Nana Besemuna Ferry which was abandoned at Yeji was worked on by engineers from the Volta Lake Transport Company (VLTC), and is currently in a good condition to operate.
Another ferry, Damen Ferry One, has also been added, making the total, three ferries working currently.
Drivers who spoke to Today expressed their happiness about the new development.
Amadu Yakubu said: “now that we have three ferries here we are very happy about the development, I have even called my colleagues to use this route because it is moving fast.”
