MUNICIPAL Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga South, Mr Joseph Nyarni Stephen, has denied using land-guards to harass and terrorise landowners on the land he is currently putting a building on at Tuba community in Accra.
He further refuted the allegation by a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communication Team in the Awutu Senya East constituency of the Central Region, Mr. Charles Kojo Odoom, together with some elders of Tuba, of buying a stolen land from illegitimate landowners to build.
Speaking on Joy News last Wednesday, Mr. Odoom on behalf of some elders of Tuba accused the Ga South MCE of using land-guards and police officers to attack them on their land purchased for a school project in Tuba.
He noted that the distraught residents and land owners accused some police officers at Weija District Police Command of bias in their handling of the maltreatment meted out to them by MEC’s alleged hired land-guards in the locality.
But, in a quick rebuttal, Mr. Stephen has thus absolved himself of any blame in the reported tensions that took place at Tuba following the harassment of some the land guards meted out to land owners in the area.
“It is not true that the land-guards and police officers are helping me to build a mansion for me,“ Ga South MEC explained.
According to him, Mr. Odoom together with some elders approached him when he assumed office on Friday, May 5, 2017 for his assistance to remove the encroachers on the lands at Tuba earmarked for educational projects.
“So I asked them to go to court for an injunction to be placed on the said land but my decision did not go down well with Mr. Odoom and his elders. And as a result of that Mr. Odoom has vowed to cause my downfall,” he told Today.
