The eighth edition of the Super Cup clash between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars would be played on January 28, 2017 to usher in the new football season.
By virtue of winning the league last season, Aduana Stars will test their might against Asante Kotoko who were crowned winners of the 2017 MTN FA Cup competition.
Aduana Stars secured their second GPL title last season with 57 points ahead of West Africa Football Academy (WAFA), while Asante Kotoko also beat rivals Hearts of Oak 3-1 to lift their ninth FA Cup trophy.
Christened “the Champions of Champions,” The Super Cup is a competition between the champion of the GPL and the winner of the Ghanaian FA Cup in Ghana before any upcoming season.
The Super Cup was founded in 1996 and has since then been played seven times making the Aduana vs Kotoko game the eight edition. This will be the first time the two sides will face each other in the Super Cup.
