Executive Secretary of Ghana Free Zones Board (GFZB), Michael Okyere Baafi, has observed that for Ghana to be able to build a stronger economy, it needs to build the financial capabilities of local entrepreneurs and investors in order to create more businesses.

Mr. Baafi said this on the ‘Yensom’ show on Accra FM yesterday where he mentioned that GFZB has plans of creating local magnates to enable them compete with their foreign counterparts.

The GFZB programme offers entrepreneurs a conducive business environment to produce at minimum cost for export.

According to him, local business owners and investors do not always have to look for foreign investors who come into the country and turn to control the various businesses, thus contributing to inefficiency.

He was of the view that as part of growing the country’s economy, it should train people who have the financial muscle to take up big ventures and match up to their international counterparts.

He was optimistic that his outfit’s decision to take up the challenge to train local entrepreneurs will yield positive results.
