MTN FA Cup Committee has budgeted an amount of GHC 150,000 for the winner of the grand finale between Ghana’s oldest club Accra Hearts of Oak against their bitter rivals, arguably the most decorated club in Ghana, Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Tamale Sports Stadium on October 29th.
The two last met in the FA tournament in 1990, where the Porcupines triumphed over the Rainbow club to lift one of the most prestigious cups in Ghana.
It is the first time the two clubs would play at the Tamale Sports stadium.
Speaking to pressmen at the unveiling of the MTN FA Cup Mascot in Accra on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, the Chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee Kurt Okraku revealed that aside qualifying to the CAF Confederation, the winning team will earn GHC 100,000 cedis to support their campaign in the tourney.
A substantial amount of GHC 50,000 would be given to the winner whiles the 2nd placed team will walk away with GHC 15,000 cedis.
Thirty gold and silver medals would be rewarded to the players, officials of the winner and runner up clubs respectively.
MTN, the title sponsors of the competition will also hand GHC 2,000 worth of airtime to each of the teams.
