Owner of Elmina Sharks, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, has commended his players for fighting to remain in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) after joining from the Division One League last season.

The Fearsome Elmina Sharks, apart from Great Olympics and Bolga All Stars, is the only remaining team that survived relegation after a gruelling league season.
Two goals from Eric Osei and Felix Addo secured a much needed win in the final match for Sharks against Wa all Stars to finish seventh ahead of former league champions- Berekum Chelsea, Liberty Professionals and Ashantigold.
In a season that was characterised with nervy fallouts both at home and away that even led to the replacement of former coach, Kobina Ammisah, players, management and coaches of Elmina Sharks have been congratulated for remaining resolute in achieving their aim of surviving in the league by Dr. Nduom.
According to Dr. Nduom, though the season has been fraught by some difficult matches, he feels the first season was a learning process for the team to build on their mistakes to challenge for the league title next season.
“Since we started the season, our aim was always to remain in the league at the end of the season. That was our aim, objective and target and indeed we’ve managed to do that,” Nduom said in a post-match interview at the Nduom Sports Stadium in Elmina.

“The season wasn’t smooth as I had expected and we all know what we had to go through during the mid-season, the ups and downs and we had to change coaches but God willing we have achieved our main goal. Congratulations to everyone who helped in this victory.”

On his part, Head Coach, Yaw Acheampong, hailed Dr. Nduom for his continual support for the team “even when things were not going as planned.”
He disclosed that Dr. Nduom’s support, paying winning the bonuses of his players on time and his frequent visits to the stadia to support the team has been vital motivating factor in staying in the league.
“But for his support I don’t think we could have achieved this milestone in the history of the club. We want to thank him and want to assure him of achieving a much bigger feat when the next season resumes.”
