The storey building near the Asafo Interchange in Kumasi which was said to be sinking on Wednesday morning has been demolished.

Officials of NADMO announced this afternoon that it would have to demolish the three-storey building to protect human lives.

This follows a deep crack seen at one side of the building and some several ones on various parts of the building which has been a subject of controversy since it was constructed.

Companies which had their offices at the ground floor were fortunately allowed to pack their equipment out, but their counterparts whose offices were on the second and third floors were not given such an opportunity.

Even though they were happy to have had their lives intact, the thought of losing their office equipment worth some thousands Ghana Cedis brought some sadness to them.

NADMO officials, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Police were there to supervise the demolition.

Hours before the demolition, the Zongo police cordoned the whole site with some police personnel on guard to prevent people from going near the building.
